This poster was created for the alternative movie poster gallery at Shortlist.com. I wanted to create something with a 20's-era eastern European feel. This 'hotel stationery' poster in Anderson-bright red and purple utilizes some key items in the story; the front desk bell, the Lobby Boy hat, a string of Madame's pearls, an apple (to denote the painting from the film 'Boy with Apple') and a steamer trunk stamped with the hotel's crown insignia. I included the mountains behind the rampant stags and the avian symbol of the fictional country, Zubrowka. Below the impressive cast listing, we see a puffing train leading away from the hotel. The background of the poster echoes the motif of the hotel's bold lobby carpet.
